Rachel’s hands were still on him. Her breath at a rapid speed. Her big brown eyes searched the boys. ‘Of course i.. Yes.’ She paused and sat up a little, clutching on to his face, so he couldn’t look away. She stared into those beautiful blue eyes that were Calvins, and looked to his lips then back to his eyes. Of course she did. She was sure of it now. She started to look back. No wonder she never liked his girlfriends. It was jealousy that always over came her. That was why she never liked any of them. Rachel remembered the way Calvin would look at her in class. It made her heart heavy now. the stare of love he did. It was all so clear to her now. She was so madly, and irrevocably in love with him.
Rachel pressed a small soft kiss to his lips, and then nodded, speaking in a soft voice. ‘I love you Calvin.’ She pressed her lips hard to his, her lips moving in perfect synchronization with his. They just fit.
Slowly, he started to lean back, bringing Rachel on top of him as they kissed. It wasn’t something he did on purpose, nor was he trying to imply anything but it was a natural instinct. His hands moved to his friend’s waist, not caring that the to of them were completely soaked from the rain outside, but that was his own fault - and he could take the blame for that. In a nice way, it was comforting to feel Rachel’s skin in that way, to be that close to her and to touch her, to feel her skin against his own and to physically feel her breathing on top of him.
"Do you know how long I’ve been waiting to tell you that?" he asked, running a hand through her damp hair, and kissing her again, his chest overflowing with a hurricane of butterflies. "I’ve loved you since… since for as long as I can remember," the boy blushed, looking into the familiar beautiful brown eyes he loved to gaze into. "I was so scared you wouldn’t love me back…"

Rachel sat back into the car chair. She noticed Calvin’s false tone, and anger slightly seeping through each word he spoke. She was confused. Had she done something wrong? Was it something she did or said? No surely not. Calvin was never usually like this with her. They never fought. Not once. Well. Ok, there was this one time when they were 13, and they fought over who would get to be class prefect. She remembered Calvin being so annoyed and angry that she ran for the little election amongst the class. She remembered it was what he wanted. The went 1 WHOLE day without talking. It was the hardest day if Rachel’s life. Then the next day, they were surprised to find they were co prefects, so they got to run everything from then on together. They still do to this day.
The rain poured heavily down onto the windscreen of the car. It had come on so quickly, which annoyed rachel as not only for a few moments ago it was just a little bit warm out. It hadn’t been warm in awhile. She stared out the window at the rain absent minded, and when she noticed Calvin pull over she turned to face him. Her brows furrowed in curiosity. ‘Calvin what the hell are you-…’ He cut her off telling her to get out of the car. Was he crazy? Or maybe just delusional? No the boy had to have a bit of common sense. I mean come on, it was pouring rain out. When she went to speak again, he wouldn’t let her and repeatedly told her to get out. She looked bewildered, but having trust in the boy, she nodded, undid her seatbelt, and got out of the car.
The first thing to hit her was the cold. Then followed the rain. Why did she have to get out of the car? Did she say something stupid again? Or maybe she just annoyed him with her constant blabber. Rachel folded her arms, and stood on the side of the road, the road deserted. Where the hell were all the cars? She stood facing Calvin, her brows furrowing. ‘Why the hell do we have to stand out in this? I spent forever doing my hair.’ She mumbled, but then shrugged it off.
Then Calvin opened his mouth. He began to tell her everything. The emotions, and feelings and love. The wanting. The fact he tells her he’s loved her since they were kids. It was like she was hit by a gale force wind. If you could see through the rain, you’d know she was crying. Was Calvin really saying this? To her? Big nosed Berry? No he couldn’t feel all this. He couldn’t want her that way, he surely didn’t want to be her prince charming does he? This was crazy. He was crazy. How could someone so great as him like her? It wasn’t possible. They were friggen best friends since they were kids? No he cant be.
But then she felt it. Those lips. They felt just like the inside of a rose. It made her heart flutter. Instant fireworks were going off in her mind, and she couldn’t believe the buzzing sensation she was getting. When he pulled away, she was disappointed almost. But then he said it. Those 3 big words. So so big. Her heart felt like it was swelling up in her chest. He loved her. How couldn’t she see this? All along. But she knew now why she got those butterflies in her stomach when she was around him. It was because she loved him too.
Rachel’s eyes searched those big old blue eyes of his. Her eyes trailing to his lips, and without warning, she lunged at him, her lips crashing against his hard. Her hands went to grip the sides of his hair, knotting her fingers in them and pulling him towards her, making her back collide with the car, and his body crash hard into hers. She bit hard down on his lower lip, and kissed down along his neck along part of his collar bone back up to his lips. Her tongue collided with his, and she couldn’t help but feel a warm ticklish feeling in her chest.
"Rachel," he whispered before bringing himself back into the kiss. Their bodies were close; their car parked up on the side of the motorway with cars passing by with temporary spotlights belonging to each vehicle. The cold rain pounded lightly against their skin, the two of them continuing to kiss and exchanging touches. The boy reached for behind his friend and opened the door, hurrying Rachel inside to sit down before sitting next to her and kissing her again, a hand on her waist, the other exploring her other side. He could hear the two of them breathing heavily, soft moans being made with fluttering of eyelashes.
"Wait, wait-" he blushed, pulling out of the kiss and holding her close, "do you… do you love me too?" he asked, realising that Rachel hadn’t said anything to him and it worried Calvin incase she felt she had to kiss him back. "I-I mean… if you don’t… if you… I…"
Rachel smiled thankfully at Calvin. He was so good to her. She remembered when they were 12 some kid who was twice her size shoved her into the big mud pile that was beside the school grounds. It was her new dress she was wearing that day for her birthday, and she remembered trying so hard to fight back the tears, when Spiderman came to the rescue. Calvin witnessed the boy shove her roughly into it, and then yelled at him to go pick on someone his own size, and with that tripped the boy over into a larger Mudpile. The kids that surrounded clapped in gratitude of Calvin’s Courage, and Rachel remembered him pulling her out of the mud, and embracing her, hugging her tight. She smiled softly to herself at the thought. Even though her dress was ruined, she still had that superhero moment with Calvin.
Squeezing his hand, she leant back into the seat and turned her head to face him. ‘Thank you. You know you give me hope. Almost makes me want to be your girlfriend.’ She let a soft little chuckle escape her lips, and then looked out through the windscreen. ‘You know, If you think about it, We may be the loneliest suckers out there, but we’re not alone. Because we have each other. I give you full permission to totally interrogate the next guy I date. That’ll be fun.’ She let out a big chuckle, smiling to herself, letting his hand go and folding her arms on her lap. But then the laugh stopped, and she looked out the window beside her. ‘Is it weird that i’m Seventeen, and i’ve never been kissed?’ She asked chewing her lower lip. Her fringe covered her eyes, that were filled with sorrow and disappointment.
Calvin smiled weakly at the mention of Rachel having a boyfriend that wasn’t himself. Then, he shook his head sincerely. “Not at all,” he whispered, looking at his best friend and then back to the road. He didn’t find that a bad thing at all and all he wanted to do right there and then was kiss her and be her first kiss - even if she didn’t like the boy in return he’d still feel happy that he could do such a thing to her. Slowly, Calvin let go of Rachel’s hand and reached for the stirring wheel, trying to take his mind off of kissing her but it was too much; he could feel the want growing within him and burning away at his thoughts. He had wanted Rachel for as long as he could possibly remember, she was the girl he loved and she’d be the only person he loved too. It was frustration that was killing him more, making him grip the wheel a little tighter and a sigh - more like a huff.
He could see Rachel was worried - and Calvin knew she was questioning what she had done to make him angry but it wasn’t her. Never her. The car pulled over to the side walk, rain tapping down heavily against the car windows with the sound of the two of them breathing in each other’s company. “Can you just… get out the car?” he mumbled, his voice almost sounding hurt and upset. He could see Rachel about to protest in the corner of his eye and before she could speak, he interrupted, “get out…”
Quickly, he watched his friend get out - without question in the pouring rain, instantly, he followed, rushing around to meet her a few steps apart. It was like something from a movie - at least, he felt it was. He felt like it could be a movie at that point in time. “Rachel, I…” he paused, realising how soaked he was, his spiked up hair messy and slightly twirled locks - droplets dripping from his eyelashes. “Every time I hear you talk about a boy… it… it kills me, Rach. It murders me inside a-and I know you probably think I’m bat-shit crazy right now but you are the most beautiful girl I’ve ever seen-” he had to raise his voice to be heard in the rain, but it felt like he was declaring it to the world, “you’re beautiful in every possible way, Rachel. When you talk about not finding your Prince Charming it hurts because… well… because I know him. I know who he could be and I know someone who wants you but, I don’t know if you feel the same. He’s loved you since you were children, Rachel. He’s loved you for as long as he can remember and yet you always go on about guys you’ve never even met o-or spoken to or people who could be yours in the future and… and… all I want is… look, I want you to be happy, Rachel but… I know who your Prince Charming is-“
With that, he came closer to his friend and cupped her left cheek, looking right into those beautiful brown orbs that were staring back with slight confusion and tears. Calvin leant in, pressing his lips to Rachel’s and closing his eyes for what felt like so long - before pulling back and remaining close - ready to be shoved aside at any moment. “I want to be him… I want to be yours, Rachel… I… I love you…”
Rachel sat into the car, putting her seatbelt on, and kicking of her shoes, so she could rest her feet against the dashboard, leaning back, as she took out a packet of Redvines, and began to chew on one. ‘Calvin, It’s fine, really, I’m not one to take whatever that dumbass says to heart anyways’ She told him shrugging her shoulders and then looking over to him, leaning over to ruffle his hair. ‘You’re too protective of me.’ She noted, with a soft smile, and sat back into the seat, continuing to chew the red vine. She loved that side of Calvin. It was one that was never hidden, and always on show. He always cared for her when others put her down, and she did the same for him. Rachel would never let anyone hurt him. Not ever.
Rachel tapped the top of her foot lightly off the dashboard, continuing to chew the redvine. She thought for a moment and then looked at Calvin, her brows a little furrowed, at her train of thoughts. ‘Do you think we’ll find our Prince Charming, and, Well, Lady in waiting? You know. The Mary Jane to your peter parker, The Christian to my Satine. I feel like i’m always going to be alone. People don’t realize this, but loneliness is underrated. Ok. I, like being on my own. I think relationships are messy and people’s feelings get hurt. Who needs it? We’re young, might as well have fun while we can and, save the serious stuff for later. But then. It just gets to a point, where I’m wondering whether that’s true or not. I don’t know, I just feel… lost. I mean, I know he’s out there. But i just don’t know if he’s looking for me.’ She sat back into the seat, sighing, and folding her hair behind her ear.
”Of course I’m protective of you; I’m not going to let some silly little jackass push you around like that,” the boy mumbled, cursing under his breath as he thought about the boy again. Rachel had been his best friend for as long as he had remembered and he wouldn’t let anyone step in between that, it didn’t matter who they were.
At Rachel’s words, he sighed and looked at he before glancing at the road again, letting one hand drop from the steering wheel to take her hand. How he wished he could utter so many words at that point, and how he wished that he could let her see just how much he loved her - how much he cared for her but, he knew for a fact Rachel would never see him in that way. He’d have to keep it to himself.
"I’m sure he’s looking for you," Calvin said softly with a smile, "you never know - you could’ve passed him on a sidewalk as a total stranger, you could’ve met him and not realise that he’s the guy you’ll spend your life with but, believe me, Rach. There’s someone out there and they’re looking for you. I know they are…"
Because he’s found you, and you’ll never see him.
Rachel scowled at her arch enemy, and gripped Calvin’s hand firmly, and tightly. ‘Beside’s haven’t you got slacking off to do? I hear they have an opening position in chucky cheese! You’ll be assured a Job for life there right?!’ She roared up to the boy sarcastically. Rolling her eyes she looked to Calvin, and listening to the words he was saying, and the actions he did, she brought her hands to her face covering her mouth as she set off in a fit of laughter. She loved this side of Calvin. It was always amusing to Rachel to see him like this. He always had the perfect retorts for the annoying neighbor that put him back in his box.
Smiling to Calvin, she kept the smile there for a long moment, the two of them just smiling and laughing. With a movement to her hair, folding it behind her ear, she looked up at the boy. ‘Huh? Oh! Yes! Bowling! right. Will you drive? My car’s low on gas and to be honest I really can’t be assed to drive.’ She said, nudging his hip, with a smirk on her face.
Calvin rolled his eyes playfully and lead his best friend to the car, allowing her to climb in first before taking the driver’s seat and closing the door behind him. “Man, I hate him,” Calvin sighed, scowling to himself. Rachel didn’t deserve the petty abuse that Fred gave Rachel, nor did she deserve to even live near someone like that. Why couldn’t Fred pick on someone else? Calvin’s bets were that Fred had a crush on Rachel which was why he was always so immature towards her - that’s what some guys did, right?
As Calvin started the car, he grinned as his music turned on; Daylight by Matt & Kim. His music taste was incredibly different to Rachel’s but he was glad that she would tolerate it - he liked anything with a guitar in it, so long as it wasn’t too heavy and it had an optimistic sound to it.
"One day I’m going to kick his ass," Calvin muttered as he pulled away from the drive, concentrating on the road ahead. "You don’t deserve that… not from him. Not from anyone, for that matter."
Rachel leaned back into his arms, placing her hands on his, with a soft smile to her lips. That warm feeling buzzed inside her again, and she loved nothing more than this. It was her favorite type of hug. He always sneaked up to her in the hallways, attacking her with this hug only to have her turn around to face the boy and Embrace him. It made her smile at how close they were. Nothing could ever tear them apart. People had tried to before, but she would never let it happen. Not ever. And she Knew Calvin wouldn’t either. ‘Oh Please Calvin. No one can resist my Charm. Not even you.’ She wiggled her browes, and when she felt his hands go to her sides, running his fingers along to tickle her, she squealed and kicked trying to get away from the tickle attack. ‘Calvin Hummel. I.Will.Kick.Your.Butt.’ She said with a quick turn, landing her on the front lawn, with Calvin falling right on top of her. ‘Oof. Cut down on the beef patties Spiderman.’ She said jokingly, laughing in sync with her best friend. Their foreheads wrinkling from the laughing. But then, the pair were silent. Rachel stared into the blue eyes that laid before her, and something was pulling her closer and closer towards the boys face…’Get a room.’ Fred called from the other house outside his window. Fred was her sworn enemy. He always tried to pick on the star when she was growing up and enjoyed mocking her and Calvin. She huffed and lightly pushed Calvin aside with a Grin, before turning Sourly to face Fred. ‘Oh Shut it you Dweeb. Aren’t you too busy Jerking off to pictures of your cousins. Because for you, that’s as good as it gets!’ She barked.
As Calvin heard Fred from across the street he scowled and helped Rachel up off of the grass. As she shouted, his hands reached for hers and gave it a soft, reassuring squeeze. For as long as Calvin could remember, Fred had pretty much tried to make Rachel feel miserable - the only good thing was that Rachel was far too strong for that. She’d always reply with a sarcastic remark and not let it get to her but every time the annoying boy would throw a comment, Calvin’s blood would boil. She didn’t deserve the crap he gave her.
"Leave her alone, Jefferson, or else I’ll be up there quicker than flash of light - and believe me, I can climb, man."
Calvin watched as Fred closed the window of his bedroom and kept to himself, still watching the pair on the grass. The Hummel boy held up a fist with a wary look and watched Fred disappear into his room. “So, bowling?”
I look Ridiculous at our Junior prom. The dress? Really? What was i thinking.
You look amazing, what are you talking about?
Calvin and I at my Dad’s Renewing of their vows earlier this year.
You are stunning.
Rachel let out that familiar laugh as he pulled her into the tight hug, to which she responded equally. She loved his hugs, there was something about them, that just made her feel warm and fuzzy inside her stomach. It made her knot up on the inside. Like butterflies were trying to escape it or something but she didn’t know why. She stayed in the hug for a little longer than usual, not realizing that she had just held onto him that long. Their bodies pressed tightly together, and her chin resting on his shoulder smiling brightly to herself. She remembered the day Calvin got his first Girlfriend. She was loud, obnoxious, and just plain old boring. Rachel never made it hidden that she had a disliking to her. They were only 11 at the time, and she remembered being very… aggressive and angry. But Calvin would always try to make her smile, with his jokes, and tell her how he’d always be her mary Jane. For some reason it always made her feel happy inside. Whenever they went trick or treating together, she’d dress up as tinkerbell, and him always spiderman. They’d goof around throwing marshmallows at each other and trying to out do each other in pranks on the neighbors. They really were a terrible twosome when they were younger.
Pulling away from Calvin with a warm smile. ‘Oh I beg to differ Calvin. Remember the last time you tried to take me on in bowling? I remember getting your milkshake all over my favorite sweater, because you got so frustrated I got a Strike.’ She said with a smirk. Folding her arms, and raising one brow at him. Looking at him, she ruffled his tall hair, and grinned at him. ‘Cute do Spiderman, and, ooh, I am loving the shirt.’ She winked, and then collided her hip with his playfully.
"It’s not my fault I have a competitive streak - you and Kurt rub off on me too much. If I didn’t know either of you I wouldn’t get so worked up," he teased, sticking out his tongue and running a hand through his messy, spiked up hair - his usual style. That was his favourite way to wear it, though sometimes Kurt insisted on styling it for him to make him look suave for important events or performances with the New Directions.
"Sweet talk will get you nowhere with me, Rachel,” he laughed, rolling his eyes playfully and pretending to turn his back in annoyance. That of course, was interrupted by the sound of him laughing and pulling her into a hug from behind. He always did this, hugging Rachel from behind. It was sweet, and it was a habit of his. Plus it meant that he could strike out with a tickle attack at any point he wanted to; such as right now. He started moving his fingers against her sides, tickling her cheekily and laughing as he could hear her laughter leaving her lips. “Want me to stop?” he asked with a chuckle, stopping for a slight second and starting again right away, tickling her until she began to wriggle with her giggles.
